CENTER FOR AMERICAN INDIAN STUDIES

The mandates of the Center include serving as the administrative unit for academic programs in American Indian Studies and promoting awareness of American Indian cultures, value systems, and social problems among both Indian people themselves and members of the larger society.

WRITING ASSISTANCE CENTER

Our mission is to help you become a better writer. Rather than offering editing services, we work with you to strengthen all aspects of your writing process to help you gain confidence in writing and in the texts that you produce. With that in mind, we begin where you do.

MATH ASSISTANCE CENTER

The Math Assistance Center at Black Hills State University was founded in 2006 and is located in the E.Y. Berry Library. The mission of the Center is to provide individual, group, and classroom support to ensure all students at BHSU can succeed in math.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Mentored research and creative work conducted by undergraduate students with the guidance of a faculty member is an exciting learning opportunity that complements classroom instruction. Almost all academic areas have opportunities to become involved in this type of educational experience. Students interested in working on an independent research project should contact a faculty member whose research or creative work interests them. If a project can be worked out, the student needs to get the yellow and green forms for registering for research from the College Office, Jonas 108. Once filled out and signed by the student and faculty mentor, the forms are returned to the College Office for processing. The final step is the student takes the green form to the Registrar's Office in Woodburn.
