2026 Accounting Fair Brings Opportunity to BHSU Students and Employers

October 14, 2026

Black Hills State University Career Development Center and College of Businesses teamed up to host their annual Accounting Fair on September 29, bringing together accounting firms and businesses throughout the region to meet and recruit accounting students for open positions and internships.

"Our Accounting Career Fair provides a unique opportunity for students to not only engage with employers, faculty and their peers but also to learn about the wide variety of career options available in the accounting profession through the Accounting Jam where employers offer a sneak peek into their businesses. Our fair also has great support from BHSU alumni who represent many of the companies attending," said Laura Prosser, an assistant professor of accounting at BHSU.

This year thirteen businesses registered for a booth, and eighty students from the College of Business attended the fair. Employers at this event had the opportunity to speak with a copious amount of interested businesses majors and gather an array of resumes from prospective students seeking jobs or internships.

Likewise, students that attended this event received insightful information about the opportunities that exist in the area, whether it is their first year exploring their options or they are nearing graduation looking to line up an interview and secure a position. This fair offers students the opportunity to become integrated into the real world of business as they build their careers.

"Students leave the fair with a greater appreciation of the career possibilities available with their accounting degree and often an internship or job interview on their calendars," said Prosser.
