Black Hills State University has launched a new partnership with ZeeMee, a social community app designed to help prospective students connect, engage, and build meaningful relationships before arriving on campus. This tool empowers future Yellow Jackets by giving them an early start on finding community and accessing personalized support during their college decision-making process.
Through ZeeMee, prospective and admitted students can join an exclusive online community where they can interact directly with BHSU admissions counselors, student ambassadors, and one another.
“ZeeMee allows us to meet students exactly where they already are—on their phones, in real-time conversations, and seeking genuine connection. It gives students a dedicated space to ask questions, explore interests, and picture themselves as part of our community long before they arrive on campus,” said Joe Rainboth, director of admissions at BHSU.
Unlike traditional communication tools, ZeeMee prioritizes peer-to-peer interaction. Incoming students can use ZeeMee to find future classmates with similar academic interests, hobbies, sports, or social identities. Many also use ZeeMee to find roommates and make their first college friendships well before orientation.
By offering ZeeMee, BHSU is reinforcing its commitment to personal, student-centered engagement at every stage of the enrollment process.
“Our goal with ZeeMee is simple: strengthen the student experience from the very beginning. When students feel welcomed, supported, and connected early in their journey, they are more confident in their decision and more excited to become Yellow Jackets,” concluded Rainboth.
