ABOUT US

Our history:

The Western South Dakota DNA Core Facility (WestCore) was established at Black Hills State University as part of the South Dakota Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (SD BRIN) in2004. We provide critical infrastructure that enhances research, education and training in the biomedical sciences. WestCore supports research activities across the SD-BRIN network by providing services to our South Dakota academic institutions, as well as to investigators at public and private agencies & institutions nationwide. WestCore is currently supported in part by NIH IDeA Program Grant 2 P20 GM103443 from the INBRE Program of the National Institute for General Medical Sciences.

What we do:

WestCore complements the SD-BRIN Proteomics and Bioinformatics core facilities by offering services and training in the use of various genetic/genomic techniques. The facility is fully equipped to support a variety of techniques. Equipment includes:

      • Illumina MiSeq
      • Lab Chip GX
      • ABI 3130XL Genetic Analyzer
      • ABI 7500 RT-PCR systems
      • Qubit
      • Assorted PCR Systems

Assistance is also available for data analysis of NextGen and Sanger sequence data, as well as for fragment analysis applications.

What can we do for you?

We will help to turn your idea into results. Learn more, receive hands on experience with new techniques, or let us assist you with the creation of your own NextGen sequencing library. We are here to help you be successful!
