Below is our Admitted Student Checklist, please review and complete all necessary steps to confirm your enrollment at Black Hills State University! We're excited to welcome you to the Yellow Jacket family!
Apply for your residence hall room today! Click here to submit your housing deposit and apply for a room. Apply early for a larger room selection.
Students are required to live on campus for the first two years after they graduate from high school. To appeal this policy, complete the Housing Appeal and return it to Residence Life. Fall housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Housing assignments will be made in early June, and sent to students via email.
To apply for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov and select BHSU (003459).

Test scores are not required for admission to BHSU. However, submission of test scores may result in an increased scholarship award, and will assist in initial course placement.
List Black Hills State University (ACT Code # 3904/SAT Code # 6042) as one of the universities to receive your ACT/SAT scores and they will be sent directly to us. If you do not have ACT/SAT results at the time of registration or you are over 21 years of age and have not taken the ACT/SAT test in the past five years, you will need to take the ACCUPLACER Placement Exams for Math and English. Call the Admissions Office at 605.642.6343 to arrange for ACCUPLACER testing.
These will be vital accounts throughout your time as a BHSU student. Watch your email for notification on when and how to activate these accounts, prior to your New Student Orientation day.

Request that your final official transcript be sent directly to the BHSU Admissions Office from your high school, college, or university.
To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from your high school, colleges, and universities attended directly to the Admissions Office through an electronic ordering service or via mail to the address provided below.
First-time Freshmen: Request that your final official high school transcript be submitted to the Admissions Office.
Transfer Students: The Admissions Office will need final official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended.
All Students: If you have taken dual credit at anytime, you must submit any and all college/university transcripts for the dual credit.
