The Bachelor of Applied Science in Leadership program is designed to equip you with many of the skills employers report and research indicates are needed to obtain employment, advance within a profession, and assume a managerial or leadership position within an organization.
This degree program will prepare you for greater leadership roles within your chosen field. You will learn to master soft skill areas like leadership, team building, strategic planning, and organizational communication.
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Leadership is for students who possess an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, have completed past community college or technical school course work, or have occupational/career credits.
Leadership Theory and Practice introduces the discipline of leadership through a survey of the historic and recent writings of leadership experts. Additionally, the course offers practical instruction of leadership behaviors. - 3 Credits
Strategic Planning introduces a comprehensive approach to systems thinking, root cause analysis, environmental scanning, tactic generation, and plan implementation through practical application. - 3 Credits
Modern Leadership Theories provides a broad survey and in-depth analysis of classic and contemporary leadership literature. The course focuses upon the context of modern leadership, and in doing so points out common and distinctive features among the theories examined. Students will move from understanding theoretical concepts to making practical application of them in their personal and professional lives. - 3 Credits

Dr. Pagel has been on the faculty of BHSU in the area of Speech Communication since 2002. Her areas of expertise include business and professional communication, conflict management and mediation, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication.
