Bike Spearfish! is a unique collaboration between Black Hills State University and Hills Horizon (a local non-profit) designed to infuse a culture of active living via advancing bicycle transportation, trail construction, and completion, advocating safe cycling and complete street policies, and community cycling education and promotional events.
Bike Spearfish! aims to increase active living via safe transportation and recreation cycling. The activities and infrastructure will promote changed behavior via the “5 E’s” as described by the League of American Bicyclists.
We are working with the City of Spearfish to improve infrastructure around the city.
We host cycling safety training for all ages.
We partner with local cycling groups to promote biking in our community in addition to hosting weekly rides from campus.
We have established a bicycle advisory group to help ensure cycling is a safe and convenient form of transportation.
