Black Hills State University has had many generous donors throughout the years who have made our university the place it is today. The top five categories are known as the Joseph F. and Martha P. Nelson Society, the John T. Vucurevich Society, the Kathryn Confer Society, the Walter and Margaret Dickey Society, and the Fayette L. Cook Society.
Joseph F. and Martha P. Nelson were the first to donate $1 million to Black Hills State University. In recognition of their generosity, this Society honors those who have contributed $1,000,000 or more in lifetime gifts. Those who make provisions for irrevocable trusts and other deferred gifts of $1,000,000 or more to BHSU are also granted membership in this most prestigious cumulative-giving society.
