Review the Admitted Student timeline below, and complete all necessary steps to confirm your enrollment at BHSU. Reminders will be sent to your email address on file, as each of these important items becomes available and as deadlines approach.


September - December

Pay Housing Deposit & Apply For On-Campus Housing

Apply for your residence hall room today! Click here to learn more about housing options at BHSU. Apply early for a larger room selection.

Submit ACT/SAT Test Scores (Optional)

Test scores are not required for admission to BHSU. However, submission of test scores may result in an increased scholarship award, and will assist in initial course placement.


December - April

Apply For Financial Aid

Visit the Federal Student Aid website to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid once made available. BHSU's school code is (003459).

Activate Your BHSU Yellowjacket Student Accounts

These will be vital accounts throughout your time as a BHSU student. Watch your email for notification on when and how to activate these accounts.  Your accounts must be active prior to your New Student Orientation Day.

Sign Up For New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation (NSO) is for students who have been admitted to BHSU, and will start in the Summer or Fall 2024 semesters. At NSO, you will register for your first year of BHSU classes.
You will need your BHSU Student ID Number, which was emailed and mailed to you in your official letter of acceptance.

April - June

Submit Your Immunization Records (MMR: Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

Click here to submit a copy of your immunization records. (Proof of two doses of the MMR immunization, proof of antibody titer, or signed medical or religious exemption form). This is required per South Dakota Codified Law and South Dakota Board of Regents policy 2.3.

Submit Official Final High School and College Transcripts

Request that your final official transcript be sent directly to the BHSU Admissions Office from your high school, college, or university.

To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from your high school, colleges, and universities attended directly to the Admissions Office through an electronic ordering service or via mail to BHSu Admissions Office, 1200 University St Unit: 9502, Spearfish, SD 57799.

Attend Your Selected Orientation Day

During New Student Orientation you will meet with Professional Advisors and faculty that will assist you with creating your first year class schedule.

Receive Room Assignment and Roommate Information

Fall housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis, in the order they were received. Housing assignments will be made in May, and sent to students via email.


June - August

Purchase Required Books and Supplies

Visit the Bookstore website, to find the books and supplies required for each of your classes.
