Laura Colmenero-Chilberg came to Black Hills State University in 2005, returning to South Dakota after a six-year absence. Colmenero-Chilberg brings over twenty years experience as an educator in public schools, as a corporate trainer, and, most recently, as Department Chair and Assistant Professor of Sociology at Marygrove College in Detroit. Her research activities are varied finding her investigating gender role imagery in popular fiction, the work/home imbalance found in American families, and the changing images of American teens in the cinema. She teaches courses on the family, collective behavior, gender roles, and urban sociology.
