Dr. Cheryl Anagnopoulos

Cheryl Anagnopoulos began teaching at Black Hills State University in 1993. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Chicago in 1988, her Master’s and Doctoral degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1991 and 1993, respectively. Since arriving at Black Hills State University, she has taught numerous developmental psychology courses including Lifespan Psychology, Psychology of Adolescence, Gerontological Psychology, and Psychology of Women. In addition, she has taught General Psychology, Seminar in Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. She has also been actively pursuing her research interests with the assistance of undergraduate students.

Her primary focus in research is the relationship between memory changes and language performance in older adults. Recent projects include investigations of word retrieval problems with increased age, examination of compensation strategies for older adults’ memory loss, and studies of various memory tasks used to evaluate older adults.
