Exploratory Studies is a two-semester program that helps students discover the major that best reflects their interests and ambitions. With the guidance of our Retention & Recruitment Specialists and university faculty, students are given the luxury of a non-pressured environment to consider their future. Each student is assigned an experienced Retention & Recruitment Specialist who is an expert in each of the Black Hills State University schools and degree programs. A course schedule is created for each student specifically tailored to their interests and ambitions, allowing them to fulfill general requirements, while exploring all that Black Hills State University has to offer.
Focus-2 (Access code: jackets)
This 1-credit course is one of the highlights of the Exploratory Studies program. It is offered in the fall semester of your first year at Black Hills State and is taught by your Retention & Recruitment Specialist. Though not required, it is strongly recommended that each Exploratory Studies student takes advantage of this opportunity.
