Dr. Pamela Carriveau has been appointed to the permanent role of provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University, BHSU announced Friday.
Carriveau has been serving as BHSU’s interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs since January and is currently the associate vice president for academic programming for the South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR), a position she assumed in 2022.
“Pam Carriveau remains the best fit for the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs role at BHSU,” President Steve Elliott said. “I am confident in her proven abilities to work with faculty, staff, students, and the SDBOR to build new academic programs and advance BHSU's mission now and into the future.”
Carriveau’s tenure with BHSU began over two decades ago as an assistant professor for political science and sociology. She has since served as the director of university program review and assessment, interim chair of the School of Behavioral Sciences, interim dean of the School of Business, assistant provost, and a previous term as interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs from 2021-22.
“I am honored and excited to return to Black Hills State University,” Carriveau said. “I look forward to collaborating with our talented faculty and staff to develop innovative programs that support our students and to build on our shared strengths as we strategically move the university forward."
Carriveau’s new appointment will be effective June 22, 2025.
