BHSU TO PARTICIPATE IN STATEWIDE “605 DAY” CAMPAIGN TO FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

Black Hills State University (BHSU) is joining South Dakota’s public universities in launching the inaugural “605 Day: Funding Futures with Scholarships,” a new annual campaign dedicated to celebrating South Dakota pride and expanding access to higher education. Held on June 5 (6/05), also known statewide as 605 Day as a nod to the state’s area code, this day of giving will raise vital funds for student scholarships.

This collaborative effort underscores the shared mission of South Dakota’s public universities to make college more affordable and accessible for all. By rallying alumni, donors, and supporters across the state and beyond, the 605 Day campaign aims to create a lasting impact through the power of collective generosity.

Contributions made to BHSU during this campaign will directly support scholarships for BHSU students to help them pursue their academic goals.

"The 605 Day Campaign is a unique opportunity to celebrate South Dakota’s spirit while providing direct support to our students," said Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement. "The scholarships funded through this initiative empower students to achieve their academic aspirations and make valuable contributions to our communities." Meeker also noted that it's encouraging to see the state’s universities collaborating to raise funds for South Dakota students.

Supporters are encouraged to share their involvement on social media using the official hashtag #605ForScholarships to highlight the statewide impact of this initiative.
