BHSU ANNOUNCES ANNUAL GIVING DAY FEB. 27

Black Hills State University is excited to announce the annual BHSU Giving Day on Tuesday, Feb. 27. This 24-hour fundraising event unites alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends in support of BHSU initiatives and current and future students.

Giving Day, also known as Jackets Give Back, was created in 2020 and takes place on Founder’s Day, which celebrates the founding of BHSU on Feb. 27, 1883. Since its inception, Giving Day has grown into a tradition that fosters generosity and community engagement around university programs and student support initiatives.

Participants in Giving Day can direct their contributions to the areas of campus they care about most, including student scholarships, academic programs, athletic activities, student life, campus enhancements, and more. Every contribution, large or small, plays a crucial role in sustaining and expanding student opportunities, enhancing educational experiences, and strengthening university programs.

In 2024, BHSU raised over $147,000 through 800 individual gifts, surpassing the goal of $130,000. This year, BHSU aims to raise $200,000 and is striving for record-breaking participation.

“The real winners of Giving Day are BHSU students,” said Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement. “The majority of what is raised is for student scholarships.”
