LOCAL DONOR CAROL LUNDBERG INCREASES BHSU SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT THIS SPRING

Spearfish resident Carol Lundberg increased her scholarship at Black Hills State University, adding three new recipients who each received $2,000 this spring. Lundberg’s scholarship total for the 2023-2024 academic year is $28,200.

BHSU students Hadley Marquardt, Katie Pedneau, and Marissa Tuttle will join the list of students that receive the Carol A. Lundberg scholarship. Current recipients of the scholarship include Abigail Baldwin, Gabriel Clark, Raine Flick, Rachel Larcher, Linus Welsh, and Megan Willman. To qualify, students must be a South Dakota resident and a junior or senior majoring in math or science with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

“Carol’s generosity has helped so many students in the past at BHSU, and we cannot thank her enough for her continued generosity for current and future students,” said BHSU Vice President for University Advancement Steve Meeker. “Carol has a passion for helping students obtain a college degree and wants to do what she can to make sure students don’t drop out because of finances.”

Lundberg grew up in eastern South Dakota and moved to California after graduating high school. She spent almost 50 years in California and worked in the self-insured healthcare industry before moving to Spearfish. She is an active member of the Spearfish community and served as the 2015 Swarm Days Parade Marshall in honor of her strong support for BHSU. Since 2011, $143,700 in scholarship funds have been distributed to BHSU students from the Carol A. Lundberg Annual Scholarship Fund.
