FLORENCE BRADY SCHOLARSHIP MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR BY BEACOM MATCH

The Florence Brady family is taking advantage of the Miles and Lisa Beacom match to establish a scholarship in their late mother’s name. Robert Brady, Spearfish, heard about the Beacom match, and he and his family have donated $50,100 to their mother’s scholarship. The Beacoms have matched it dollar for dollar for an endowment balance of $100,200.

In 2023, Miles and Lisa Beacom pledged $400,000 a year for five years, totaling $2 million for endowments at Black Hills State University. To be eligible for a match, the fund must be for women participating in athletics or operational expenses for women’s athletics at BHSU. Since inception, there have been ten new endowments established and additions to the funds of two previous endowments. To date, the Beacoms have matched $390,931.

“I appreciate all the support pouring in over this program, "said BHSU Vice President for University Advancement Steve Meeker. “This program is doing exactly what the Beacom family was hoping it would do."

It takes an investment of $25,000 to establish an endowment. However, with the matching program, an investment of $12,500 is sufficient to establish an endowment that will remain in perpetuity.
