BHSU’S LG CAMPUS CLASH VIDEO TAKES TIMES SQUARE

Black Hills State University (BHSU) is now prominently showcased on a Times Square billboard in New York City thanks to their victory against South Dakota Mines (SDM) in LG’s ‘The Rivalries’ Campus Clash competition.

The historic rivalry between BHSU and SDM, spanning over a century, caught the attention of LG, leading to the selection of these two universities for the Campus Clash contest this past fall. The contest invited students from BHSU and SDM to create short videos explaining the significance of one of the NCAA's longest-standing Division II rivalries. After two rounds of voting on each campus, BHSU emerged as the champion, with student Noah Westergaard leading the Yellow Jackets to victory and claiming the title of Campus Clash winner in October.

As part of winning this challenge, BHSU received a custom video showcasing the University produced by Emmy award-winning film company JayByrd Films who spent two days on the BHSU campus in early December to film. As the winner of the contest, Westergaard was involved throughout the filming process. On Jan. 16, the completed video debuted on BHSU's social media platforms and on Jan. 30 began its run in Times Square, where it will be seen about 60 times daily until its final airing date of March 29.

“I really enjoyed being able to shadow JayByrd Films when they were on campus. It was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a company of their caliber,” Westergaard said. “It’s been an honor to represent the University through the LG Campus Clash contest.”

Becca Walters, senior director of Marketing and Communications at BHSU, said “Our campus has thoroughly enjoyed partnering with LG and is extremely proud of the video content produced by JayByrd. We are excited to showcase and share our exceptional campus on a national stage. We thank LG for their continued investment in the University.”
