BHSU MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT ANNUAL MADRIGAL DINNER

The Black Hills State University Music Department will be hosting their annual Madrigal Dinner fundraiser on Nov. 30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Meier Hall, with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The dinner will feature an ensemble of 18 singers that specialize in performing early Renaissance music. Dressed in Renaissance garb, the singers will portray a sixteenth-century king, queen, and royal court who have invited the audience to a Christmas feast in the castle’s great hall, complete with a recorder ensemble, herald trumpeters, and a post-dinner concert. During the dinner portion of the evening, the court and court jester will present a program with performances of traditional carols, including “The Boar’s Head Carol,” “A Wassail Song,” and “Silent Night.”

The Madrigal Dinner is $60 per plate and includes a roasted butternut squash soup with roasted mushrooms for starters, a Yorkshire pudding stuffed with shepherd’s pie as the main course, and for dessert, a caramel apple and pomegranate bread pudding.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible at BHSU.edu/Madrigal or by calling Katherine Kemp at 605.642.6420, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Mon. - Fri. Please note any dietary needs, such as vegetarian meals or nut allergies when making reservations.
