JACKET ZONE TO CLOSE MAY 19

On May 19, the Black Hills State University “Jacket Zone” store will close its doors for the final time on the historic Spearfish Main Street.

The store first opened in June of 2015 and was part of a project to form a connection with the community, explained Mike Jastorff, director of the BHSU Bookstore. “When we started the Jacket Zone, we had a three-pronged approach. We looked at this as an opportunity to promote BHSU merchandise, aid in the recruitment of future students, and build relationships within the community. Sales were not as robust as we expected, but I believe it was successful in many ways.”  Jastorff added that he is thankful for the support the community has provided the Jacket Zone for the past eight years.

The Jacket Zone will be running a 50% discount on all items until the store closes on May 19. Jastorff said, “There is a lot of merchandise in the store. We don’t have the room to store it in the bookstore on campus, so we are trying to make that a little easier on ourselves and give everyone a great deal.”

Jastorff added that the community is welcome to purchase BHSU merchandise from the BHSU Bookstore on campus located in the Student Union. “We love seeing community members stop in and we refresh our merchandise often. We hope to see more people come through our campus bookstore in the future!”

The hours for the Jacket Zone will be Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. through its final day on May 19. The BHSU Campus Bookstore summer hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
