BHSU Names Recipients of Annual Student Volunteer Awards

Black Hills State University held its annual Student Volunteer Awards ceremony Thursday, April 13. Hosted by the Student Engagement and Leadership Center to recognize the outstanding contributions of its students, this year marked the 31st anniversary of the awards.

“This has been the year of trying new programs and new student organizations being started to appeal to a wide variety of interests,” said Jessie Gramm, student engagement coordinator at BHSU. “I loved watching each student leader grow in leadership from planning exciting new events, stepping up into new leadership roles, starting new organizations, or simply helping their organization get more involved on campus.” 


The awards and recipients include:  
Outstanding New Student: Cristian Fierro 

Dean of Students Rising Star Award: Megan Brozik 

Outstanding Volunteer: Lexie Bendigo 

Outstanding Student Leader: Lorraine Coronato 

Excellence in Leadership:  McKenzie Thompson, Lauren Gasseling, Paxton Klug, Taylor Ann Wolley, Analena Urquidez, Hartly Thorington, Courtney Nagle, Molly Amann, Lorraine Coronato 

Outstanding New Student Org: Kicking Assets  

Outstanding Student Org: Student Band 

Most Improved Student Org: Shutter Buzz 

Outstanding Community Service: RakeAThon 

Outstanding Programs - Education: Psychology Club's “Take Back the Night”  

Outstanding Programs – Social: Concert Choir’s “Karaoke Night”  

Spirit of BH Award: Brady Gillette 

Jane Klug Student Leadership Scholarship: Abigail Renner
