BHSU A BIG WINNER AT AAF-BLACK HILLS ADVERTISING AWARDS

Black Hills State University students and staff took home 22 gold and silver ADDYs at the 2023 American Advertising Federation – Black Hills (AAF-Black Hills) American Advertising Awards Feb. 17, 2023.  
 
Gold ADDYs in the student category were awarded to BHSU students Ashley Beguin, Makayla Pollman, Clinton Tsosie, Cecilia Arbo, Taylor Hise, Nicole Klungness, Hope Schumacker, and Mason Wieman. Student Silver ADDY recipients were Klungness, Tsosie, Beguin, Aidan Marcinkowski, Michael Norman, Rylan Bruns, Corrin Bertalot, Valeen Thovson, and Sophie Curtis.  
 
In addition to their ADDYs, Bruns and Beguin received Judge’s Choice awards. Both are student workers in the BHSU Office of Marketing & Communications along with Schumacker. 
 
Best in Show for the student category was awarded to Hise for his logo design titled “JD Toronto.” 
 
In the Professional Awards category, the BHSU Office of Marketing & Communications received two Silver ADDYs for their 2022 Admissions Publications and the 2022 Spring Alumni Magazine issue.  
 
“The quality of work by our BHSU students is represented in the awards and accolades given by the AAF. The exceptional instruction from our BHSU faculty and staff combined with the talent, drive, and hard work from the students was exemplified with the acknowledgement of these ADDYs,” said Becca Walters, senior director of marketing and communications at BHSU. 
  
“In addition, the BHSU marketing and communications team was thrilled to receive recognition for our work. It had been 10 years since our office had received an ADDY, and we were pleased our efforts were awarded.” 
 
All Gold ADDY winners will be entered into the American Advertising Awards District 8 competition which will include entries from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
