BHSU E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center Mural to be Unveiled by Artist

A new mural will be unveiled at the recently renovated E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center at Black Hills State University during an Artist Talk on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. The original painting was created by BHSU alum Hope Christofferson who will also be hosting a discussion about the mural, her inspiration behind the piece, and her future projects during the event.

Raised in the Black Hills, Christofferson fell in love with the natural beauty of the area, inspiring a passion for the mystical and the magical that translates into her artwork. Although she now resides at the University of Arizona, Christofferson returned to her alma mater to bring her vision of beauty to the Spearfish campus.

Professor Desy Schoenewies, Associate Professor of Art at BHSU, who is organizing the event, described Christofferson as a “delightful and inspirational BHSU studio art alumni who is brimming with positivity and a strong creative vision. Her mural offers us a lens into her colorful viewpoint of life, and in particular her reflections of her home in the Black Hills."

The Mural Unveiling and Artist Talk with Christofferson will take place at the E.Y. Berry Library and are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Interim Library Director Aaron Bauerly at 605-642-6959 or visit BHSU.edu/events.
