Black Hills State University announced today that all summer 2020 course offerings will be delivered online. With social distancing recommendations, now may be a good time for those working remotely or in a furlough situation to continue their education. High school seniors and current college students are also encouraged to take BHSU summer classes to work toward earning their degree.

Black Hills State University announced today that all summer 2020 course offerings will be delivered online.

Due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Dakota’s public universities transitioned to online delivery March 23 for the remainder of the spring semester. Today’s announcement, which supports continuing statewide efforts to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, extends remote delivery through the universities’ summer term.

BHSU already had planned to deliver nearly all summer classes online, so this change will have a minimal impact on students. However, with this adjustment, any face-to-face courses will be changed to online offerings. BHSU President Laurie Nichols noted that BHSU has more than 100 classes this summer for students including courses in business, English, health, history, and more.

The summer term begins May 11 with an early session. Later sessions begin in June and July. Please consult the summer class listing at www.BHSU.edu/ClassSchedule for more information.

With social distancing in place, now may be a good time for those working remotely or in a furlough situation to continue their education. View the summer course offering at www.BHSU.edu/ClassSchedule or call 642-6131 for details.

High school seniors who will attend college in the fall, even if they are attending a college other than BHSU, can also benefit from taking BHSU classes this summer. BHSU is offering many general education courses such as College Algebra, Psychology, American Government, and Creative Writing. As an accredited university, credits earned over the summer from BHSU will transfer to most colleges throughout the U.S.

To take summer courses for college credit, there is a simple, one-page, online application (www.BHSU.edu/Apply) for non-degree seeking students. The cost to apply is $20. Non-degree seeking students are not required to send high school or previous college, university, or technical school transcripts. Once admitted, email Johanna.Best@BHSU.edu to request enrollment in a specific course.
