Wyoming teacher scholarship founded in memory of Charlotte Boner

A scholarship at Black Hills State University has been established in honor of beloved educator Charlotte Labor Boner. A recurring $500 scholarship will be awarded each semester to a student from Wyoming majoring in elementary education at BHSU.

The scholarship honors Charlotte’s compassion, love of teaching, and families she impacted throughout her career.

Charlotte grew up in Rapid City and attended from Black Hills State in the early 1950s. She was involved in campus activities while pursuing her elementary education degree and was named Swarm Day Queen in 1954. Charlotte and her husband, Herman, married in 1957 and made their permanent home in Casper, Wyo. Both were educators in the Natrona County School District where Charlotte taught 3rd grade and Kindergarten at Pinedale, North Casper, and Mills Elementary Schools until her retirement in 1993.

Charlotte’s family says she was dedicated to her profession and had a special gift for making learning fun. She cared not only for the student, but for the entire family unit.
