Black Hills State University freshman, Kirsten Chester, was moving cross country to Spearfish, when she saw online that she was the winner of the BHSU Selfie Day Contest.

Kirsten recently moved to Spearfish from Las Vegas where she graduated high school this spring. Her winning photo includes a #BHSUBound sign. Kirsten was born in Spearfish but moved to Las Vegas prior to starting elementary school.

She said she decided to attend BHSU because of the welcoming environment, friendly people, and the exceptional academic offerings. She's excited to start classes at BHSU in August.

"This is the best decision I've ever made--to attend BHSU. I look forward to the next four years of my life here. I am really excited about this new adventure and am looking forward to meeting new people and all the new experiences that await me in the future," Kirsten said.

Kirsten plans to major in business administration - entrepreneurial studies. She would like to start her own company through the degree she will be pursuing. BHSU received AACSB accreditation for its business programs in 2014. Less than 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned this distinction.

BHSU launched its Selfie Day contest as part of the international social-media-declared "Selfie Day." Incoming students, families, and fans are invited to follow BHSU on social media via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. BHSU classes begin on Aug. 21.
