BHSU was named to the Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 list by Military Times, in addition to the Military Friendly School 2017 designation by Victory Media. The University offers many services to military members and their families including student support services such as free tutoring, scholarship searches, and disability accommodations.

For the seventh consecutive year, BHSU was recently named to the list of 2017 Military Friendly Schools by Victory Media. BHSU was also named to the Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 by Military Times.

According to the MilitaryFriendly.com website, Military Friendly Schools "strive towards and succeed in the areas that matter most in helping veterans make the transition from the military to school and, ultimately, satisfying careers in the civilian world."

David Dodson, Veteran Resource Coordinator at BHSU, said the University has made a strong commitment to student veterans and has strived to provide them the resources to be successful in higher education.

"It is the faculty and staff that act on that commitment that allows the campus to continue to be recognized as a Military Friendly and Best for Vets school, and a place where veterans feel welcome," said Dodson.

Areas noted for exceptional service to military men, women, and families at BHSU and all Military Friendly include admissions, student support, and career services. The Best for Vets designation considers cost, credits, and culture of its competing colleges, as well as peer connections and veterans support.

BHSU is consistently recognized nationally for high-quality service to the unique needs of military service. In addition to Military Friendly and Best for Vets, BHSU was named a Top School in the Military Advanced Education (MAE) Guide to Colleges and Universities last year.

Services BHSU offers to assist military members and their families with academic and social needs include student support services such as disability accommodations, free tutoring, scholarship searches, academic advising, financial aid counseling, career counseling, testing, college prep and refresher classes in math and writing, and assistance with study skills and Veterans Administration benefits.
