BHSU Dean named President of National Business Education Association

Dr. Priscilla Romkema, Dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at Black Hills State University, will serve as the 2016-2017 President of the National Business Education Association (NBEA). The NBEA is the nation's leading professional organization devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business.

Dr. Priscilla Romkema, Dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at Black Hills State University, will serve as the President of the National Business Education Association (NBEA) for 2016-2017.

NBEA is the nation's leading professional organization devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business.

"As NBEA President, I look forward to working with secondary, post-secondary, and college/university business educations from across the country to further the mission of NBEA," said Romkema. "These business educators will not only benefit professionally from NBEA, but will pass along knowledge, skills, and leadership qualities needed by our future business leaders-our students!"

NBEA is the leading association devoted to the recognition that business education competencies are essential for all individuals in today's fast-changing society. Romkema previously served in other leadership roles on the NBEA Board and served as President of the National Association for Business Teacher Education (NABTE).

The BHSU School of Business offers high-quality programs that are accredited by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, considered the "gold standard" in business accreditations. Less than 5 percent of business programs worldwide are AACSB accredited.

The BHSU School of Business offers the following degrees that are AACSB accredited:
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with specializations in accounting, economics and finance, entrepreneurial studies, human resource management, management, marketing, and tourism and hospitality management.
  • Bachelor of Science in Professional Accountancy
  • Master of Business Administration in Applied Management
In addition, the School of Business offers an Associate of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management as well as Certificates in Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, and Management Information Systems. The Business Education program is accredited by NCATE (currently known as CAEP). Engineering Technology and Military Science are also housed in the BHSU School of Business.
