BHSU to host business and accounting career fairs in Rapid City and Spearfish

The Black Hills State University School of Business will host a Career and Internship Fair along with an Accounting Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza in Rapid City. An Accounting Fair will also be held the same day in Spearfish. BHSU students and alumni are invited to attend the fairs to network with more than 20 employers.

The Black Hills State University School of Business will host a Career and Internship Fair along with an Accounting Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Rapid City. The Fair will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza. An Accounting Fair will also be held the same day at the Joy Center in Spearfish from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Dylan Hanson, BHSU professional accountancy major from Grenville, S.D., attended the Fair last spring. As a result of the connections Hanson made at the event, Hanson was invited to attend a highly-competitive Summer Leadership program with Eide Bailly, CPA firm. Eide Bailly has a fraud auditing department, a perfect match for Dylan's goals and interests.

"The Summer Leadership program with Eide Bailly came about through a connection I made last spring at the BHSU School of Business Career Fair. I loved the program because I got a quick glimpse into their company and what it might be like to work for them and network with more people in the accounting world," said Hanson. "As a result of the Summer Leadership program, I was offered an interview for an internship next spring."

Melissa Haught, recruitment and retention specialist at BHSU, said the Fair builds upon the success of the School of Business Fair held in Spearfish last spring.

"We offer many business degrees at the BHSU-Rapid City location including business administration, accounting, and an MBA," said Haught. "Leading up to the Fair, faculty in Spearfish and Rapid City will help prepare students to get the most out of the experience."

Haught said BHSU alumni are also invited to participate in the Fair.

More than 20 employers are currently signed up to attend the Fair in September. Businesses and organizations can still sign up to attend the Fair by contacting Haught at Melissa.Haught@BHSU.edu or 605-642-6277.

The BHSU School of Business is AACSB Accredited (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), recognizing BHSU as one of the top 5 percent of business schools worldwide.
