Black Hills State University photography professor Steve Babbitt had artwork selected for an international exhibit.

Babbitt had three photographs accepted into the Sixth Painting and Mixed Media Competition 2015-2016 at the Lessedra Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria. The exhibition features 233 pieces of artwork from artists in 43 countries.

This is the second year that Babbitt's work has been selected for an international show at Lessedra Gallery. Last year, Babbitt had three pieces of artwork showcased in the 14th Lessedra World Art Print Annual.

"It is an honor to be accepted into this exhibition for the second year in a row," Babbitt said. "It is also exciting to be included with artists from so many countries around the world."

Babbitt's photographs selected for the show all are from a larger series of photographs that highlight unique architectural details. The three photographs were taken in Illinois, Nevada and Utah.

"They are very interesting together, as well as individually," he said. "I'm happy they were all three chosen."

The competition aimed to showcase a variety of contemporary artwork including paintings, drawings, collages, watercolors and photography.

The exhibit is on display Dec. 15 through Feb. 28, 2016 at Lessedra Gallery. A link to the online gallery is at www.Lessedra.com.
