The Black Hills State University Enactus students, in partnership with the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) Women's Business Center at BHSU, will host Get Connected: Facebook for Retirees, Tuesday, December 1, 5-7 p.m. at the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Library, 315 W. Main Street, Lead.
Get Connected: Facebook for Retirees is a workshop to help retirees become more comfortable with the basics of Facebook. This workshop is free however, seating is limited so registration is required.
To optimize their learning experience, participants should bring any log-in information for both current Facebook accounts AND email accounts. Participants without a Facebook account are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes early to receive assistance with setting up an account.
This is the fourth year Enactus students have staged the workshop with the SD CEO, and the first year the workshop will be held in Lead. According to Enactus President Trait Thorne, BHSU Enactus students benefit from this workshop as much as workshop participants. "This workshop gives students valuable experience teaching and working with a different generation, and we can take that experience with us into our professional lives." Enactus Project Manager Cheyenne Quinn agrees, "Get Connected: Facebook for Retirees is truly a rewarding event for our members. Providing the basics about social media skills to retirees helps improve their connectedness with an increasingly digital world."
Enactus is an international organization that mobilizes university students around the world to make a difference in their communities while developing skills to become socially responsible business leaders.
The SD CEO is a part of a network of more than 110 centers nationwide established through the Small Business Association.
