Advisors at BHSU use a holistic advising model that considers students’ multiple identities and understands that multiple elements affect a student’s college experience.

First and second-year students at BHSU have a professional advisor in the Student Success Center or the TRIO program. Once students on main campus have completed 60 credits, they transition to a faculty advisor in their program of study who will mentor them throughout the remainder of their journey. TRIO students, as well as students taking classes in Rapid City, remain with their professional advisor throughout their college experience.
