Dr. Julie Wingen, PT, DPT is a trailblazer in healthcare and a passionate advocate for community wellness. In 2012, she founded Pain & Movement Solutions with a clear mission: to transform lives through movement and to become the first choice for those seeking care for pain and mobility challenges. What began as a single clinic has since grown into a thriving network of five locations across the Black Hills region—serving Belle Fourche, Sturgis, East and West Rapid City, and Custer.
Dr. Julie holds a B.S. in Biology from South Dakota State University and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of South Dakota. Her career is defined by a deep commitment to holistic, patient-centered care, and she leads a team of top-tier therapists who share her vision for elevating the standard of healthcare.
Her innovative model empowers patients to take charge of their health, focusing not only on treatment but on long-term wellness. Dr. Julie believes that exceptional care should be the norm, not the exception, and she continues to push boundaries to make that vision a reality.
Her impact has not gone unnoticed—Dr. Julie was named the 2024 South Dakota Woman Owned Small Business of the Year and 2019 South Dakota Physical Therapist of the Year, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.

Hallie Hovdenes is a proud Black Hills native with a deep-rooted love for community and family. After graduating, Hallie spent several years away from home as her husband’s military career took them across the country. During that time, they started a family and welcomed three incredible children, developing a strong appreciation for supportive, family-focused spaces.
Two years ago, Hallie and her family were thrilled to return to the Black Hills and settle in Spearfish. Fueled by her passion for early childhood development and creating safe, engaging environments for families, Hallie launched Jitter Joint—an indoor play and activity space designed with young children and their caregivers in mind.
Now nearing its one-year anniversary, Jitter Joint has been embraced by the Spearfish community, and Hallie couldn’t feel more grateful. For her, there’s no better place to raise a family and serve others than right here at home.
