Dr. Thomas Weyant is a historian who focuses on the intersections of culture and politics in post-1945 America. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Akron (2016), an M.A. in Applied History from Shippensburg University (2005), and a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh (2001). His first book, Peace in the Mountains: Northern Appalachian Students Protest the Vietnam War, was a runner-up for the 2020 Weatherford Award. Recent research projects have explored consumerism, Christmas, and the Cold War, as well as the issues related to congressional apportionment. The central theme tying together the various research projects are questions about the meaning of citizenship in 20th century America. Weyant teaches a wide range of courses within American history, as well as courses in Latin America and the Global Cold War.
