Floyd Scholarships awarded to two incoming students

Riley Donnelly of Elk Point and Karli Verhulst of Reva were named recipients of the Joe and Elaine Floyd Scholarship at Black Hills State University. Donnelly and Verhulst will each receive a $17,000 scholarship when they attend BHSU this fall.

BHSU student creates education channel on YouTube for new job during COVID-19

Starting a job during the COVID-19 pandemic meant Katie Wolff, studio art major at Black Hills State University, needed to adapt quickly. Katie is the education coordinator at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City and was honored with the Spirit of BH award this spring at BHSU.

BHSU creates airborne isolation shield for Monument Health

Black Hills State University responded to the call when Monument Health requested assistance to create an airborne isolation shield in response to COVID-19. The shield is available for use in the Emergency Department at Monument Health Spearfish Hospital to protect caregivers.

Downing named Distinguished Faculty Member at BHSU

Dr. Holly Downing, professor of biology, was named the 2020-21 Distinguished Faculty Member at Black Hills State University. The honor recognizes one faculty member per year for excellence in teaching, research, and service.

BHSU to facilitate at-home STEM camp for grades K-6

This summer Black Hills State University is offering a STEM enrichment program, Camp Invention Elevate At Home, June 8-July 3. Developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention provides children with hands-on/minds-on opportunities to explore, create, and invent.
