BLACK HILLS STATE UNIVERSITY TO HOST COMMENCEMENT SATURDAY, MAY 10

Black Hills State University will recognize 300 graduates during the 189th Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 10.  

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center on the BHSU campus. The public is invited to attend and celebrate the students’ achievements. Degrees to be awarded include 28 master’s degrees, 232 bachelor’s degrees, and 40 associate’s degrees.  An honorary doctorate will also be presented to Dana Dykhouse, CEO of First Premier Bank. Dykhouse will also be delivering the charge to the graduates.

Nathan Lukkes, SDBOR Executive Director and CEO, will provide greetings, and Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement at BHSU, will welcome graduates to the BHSU Alumni Association.   

“Commencement is a day of celebration for Black Hills State University,” President Steve Elliott said. “We wish our graduates much success as they embark upon a new chapter in their lives and begin their careers. We are proud of their accomplishments and are truly thankful for their dedication to BHSU.” 

The May 2025 Commencement Ceremony will be broadcast live at BHSU.edu/Commencement for those who are unable to attend. Also on this webpage, all are invited to submit words of congratulations to May 2025 graduates. BHSU encourages attendees to share their commencement story on social media with the hashtag #BHSU2025 in social media posts.
