To align with recent changes to several regional high schools’ academic schedules, Black Hills State University is now offering more options for dual credit courses, online.

BHSU dual credit coordinator Taylor Watkins says in addition to getting a jump start on your career, “Dual credit helps you get acclimated to college courses and allows for more flexibility and opportunities when you enter college full time.”

In addition to the standard list of full-semester dual credit opportunities, the following 12 courses will start after Labor Day and continue for a 12-week period.
  • ARTH 100: Art Appreciation
  • ECON 201: Principles of Microeconomics
  • ENGL 101: Composition I
  • HIST 151: United States History I (two available sections, BT3 and BT5)
  • HUM 100: Introduction to Humanities
  • MATH 114: College Algebra (two available sections, BT7 and BT9)
  • MCOM 151: Intro to Mass Communication
  • POLS 100: American Government
  • PSYC 101: General Psychology
  • SOC 100: Introduction to Sociology
  • SPAN 101: Introductory Spanish I
  • SPCM 101: Fundamentals of Speech
By establishing these 12-week courses, Watkins says BHSU is giving high school students more time to prepare for their college classes and gives them a schedule that aligns more closely with their high school schedule this year.
