Corporate Communication degree now available online at BHSU

Black Hills State University announces that the bachelor’s degree in corporate communication is now available as an online degree program. Graduates with this degree often advance their careers in advertising, digital media, communications management, public relations, and more.

Dr. Amy Fuqua, graduate dean and dean of the College of Liberal Arts at BHSU, said the corporate communication degree will still be offered in face-to-face courses on campus, but that the online program provides another option for students.

“Corporate communication is an excellent, fully-online degree program that will prepare students for a variety of careers in the public and private sectors,” said Fuqua. “The online program includes the same dedicated faculty members fostering real-world experience and practical skills for our graduates.”

The program consists of a number of business courses along with an emphasis mass communications, including digital media and social media. Courses include accounting, interactive multimedia design, photography, writing for digital media, and publishing.

Fuqua said the program also emphasizes an internship. BHSU faculty and staff assist students in finding internship opportunities relevant to their goals; or, students already working in their field of study may be able to utilize their current line of work for internship experience and credit.

“The internship component is designed to make a bridge between college-course material and career aspirations,” said Fuqua.

The online program opens new opportunities for those wanting to complete this unique degree but who have scheduling limitations due to work, family, location, or military status.

“You can complete this degree according to your schedule from wherever you are. Take as many classes as you want or are able to throughout the course of your study, depending on work or personal obligations,” said Fuqua.

BHSU offers a variety of online courses, including master’s and bachelor’s degree programs and certificates, to help fit your educational goals into a schedule that works for you. Visit www.BHSU.edu/online for a list of programs.
