Quickbooks beginner workshop to be offered at BHSU

A QuickBooks training for beginners will be held at Black Hills State University in Spearfish Wednesday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Jonas Academic Hall, Room 205.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University has partnered with the CPA firm Casey Peterson and Associates, Ltd., to bring this face-to-face workshop to BHSU.

Leah Heidler, CPA and In-Charge Tax Accountant at Casey Peterson & Associates, is the instructor. She is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and a regular presenter for the firm&rsquos online and face-to-face QuickBooks training classes. Heidler, who has been with the firm for seven years, works with a number of small businesses in the areas of tax, accounting software setup, consulting, troubleshooting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, and sales tax.  

Heidler states, "QuickBooks is by far the most popular small business accounting software out there. It is important for users to gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to use the program correctly and efficiently to help their business thrive. Attendees will learn so much about QuickBooks in a fun and interactive atmosphere."

Topics covered in the face-to-face workshop include: creating a company file creating a chart of accounts writing checks/record deposits reconciling bank statements performing sales tax and running reports. Workshop attendees will also learn the basics of accounting.
