At BHSU, each student makes their mark on a University committed to helping them turn their possibilities into realities.

Campus activities: Presidential Student Ambassadors, JUR(Y): The Journal on Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, the Writing Assistance Center, and the University Honors Program

Favorite memory or experience at BHSU: I've had an excellent time traveling to national research conferences. One of my best memories is sitting on the beach in San Diego before my presentation and heading to the convention center with a glaring red sunburn.

Favorite professor: Dr. Katrina Jensen has been a major influence on my time at BHSU. She has acted as my research mentor since I was a freshman and has offered lots of advice concerning class schedules and future plans in addition to chemical concepts and laboratory techniques. I am extremely glad to have come to BH because professors are accessible and willing to go out of their way to help - something that can't necessarily be expected on a bigger campus.

Favorite place to visit in Spearfish or the Black Hills: A few of favorite places in the Black Hills are Devil's Bathtub, 11th Hour Gulch, and the Badlands. Anywhere in Spearfish Canyon, only 5-10 minutes away, is beautiful.

Future plans: My future plans are to attend graduate school in pursuit of a Ph.D. in chemistry. This semester I will be completing an independent capstone research project as well as applying to graduate schools and grants before graduating in May. Right now, my biggest goal is balancing my remaining school and research work while still devoting time to figuring out my graduate studies. I am currently stuck on writing my personal statement!
