Reporters and authors Katty Kay and Claire Shipman recently published The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance--What Women Should Know. Listen to a short interview in which they discuss their research findings on the National Public Radio show Marketplace.  The mp3 file containing the interview appears at the very top of the page.

In Chapter 6 of our Women in Leadership text, Taking the Stage, author Judith Humphrey provides suggestions for addressing the eroded confidence mentioned in Kay and Shipman's work.  Humphrey speaks of the confidence gained through continual and effective self-promotion, inviting women to "use performance reviews and career discussions to . . . sell themselves" and to "put forward their best case for what they have done."

Do you create opportunities to put forward your best, particularly during your reviews?   Do you ask others to bring their best to the reviews you conduct?  Share anything you&rsquove found effective, in either your own review or reviews you have conducted of others, that you see as an asset in effective personal promotion.
