Local students participating in the Black Hills State University Summer Exploration Institute (SEI) will have an opportunity to showcase their projects from the week-long academic camp during a Renaissance Fair Friday, June 20 from 11 a.m. &ndash 1 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Clare and Josef Meier Hall.

The annual summer academic camp is designed to encourage creative and critical thinking skills. During the camp, students explore the past and predict the future, examine challenging problems to solve, and explain their perspective on things they see and don&rsquot see. During the fair, students will exhibit their projects from the week which will include Renaissance clothing and architectural design, games and crafts. Projects with robotic and compute coding, original board game designs, and the origin of languages will also be on display.

Community members from the Society of Creative Anachronism, a Medieval reenactment society, will also be at the fair dressed in their traditional garb and demonstrating fencing and heavy weapons use in full armor.

BHSU A&rsquoviands will also provide a cultural Renaissance meal for $7, and University students will perform period music.
