Dr. William Davis, assistant professor of physical education at Black Hills State University.
Dr. William Davis, assistant professor of physical education at Black Hills State University, will present What&rsquos Going on in the Gym: Teacher and Student Behavior in Physical Education Tuesday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the Trump Conference Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union.

This is the fourth presentation in the Celebrating Accomplishments series, sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs at BHSU. The series features faculty members who have recently finished their dissertations and earned their doctorates with talks that highlight their research.

Davis&rsquo research explores the role ongoing education for an instructor may play in developing the expertise of his or her students in physical education. Davis will present the differences in teacher and corresponding student behavioral systems when the teacher has had specific advanced training and when a teacher has not. A secondary portion of this lecture will discuss how literature has defined expertise and effectiveness in physical education in the past, and how field systems analysis may be a viable resource in addressing the expertise analysis void.

Davis came to BHSU in August 2012. He finished his doctorate in kinesiology at West Virginia University in May 2013 and currently teaches physical education pedagogy in the BHSU School of Education.

Davis also holds degrees in biology and health and physical education from California University of Pennsylvania and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

There is no charge for the series and the community is invited to help BHSU celebrate Davis&rsquo accomplishment as well as his contributions to BHSU, his students and the community.
