Welcome to the Math Assistance Center!

A mentor standing on the left and a student sitting on the right work together to solve math equations. At the Math Assistance Center (MAC), located in the E.Y. Berry Library, free tutoring is available for all students taking any level of mathematics. No appointmented is needed to get help from our mentors. Just walk in during the hours listed in the About Us tab. Check out the MAC Staff tab to find which mentor specializes in the subject you need assistance in, and check the fall 2024 schedule to find a time when they are available.

Meet our Mentors

Colin Garnett: Director

Hi all! I’m Dr. Colin Garnett, I grew up in Laramie, Wyoming. I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and my PhD in mathematics from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. I enjoy playing games with my family, walking, and playing Balinese gamelan.

Kaitlyn Czernek

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn and I am a sophomore majoring in Math and minoring in Outdoor Education. I love hiking and solving equations. I am very excited to work with you!

Katie Jorgenson

Hello I am Katie Jorgenson. My goal is to become a high school math teacher in the future. I enjoy spending time with my cows and horses, which are a cherished hobby I have had for a long time. With a love for the color sage green, I find balance between my academic pursuits and the country lifestyle I love

Hey guys, my name is Colby. I am a Physics and Mathematics student here at BH. I grew up here in Spearfish and decided to stay for school because I love the town and the surrounding scenery. I like to spend my free time going on night hikes, walking around town, and going disc golfing. Come say hi!
