We are excited that you are interested in BHSU and we look forward to working with you as you prepare to further your education! Below is a checklist that outlines the items required to complete your admissions process. Once we receive all of these items, we will notify you of your admissions status. 1. Application: Please complete your application online at: and pay your $20 application fee

a.    If you are studying at a Partner University (Exchange or Study Abroad) and will only be at BHSU for one or two semesters, complete this application: Exchange/Study Abroad Student Application(no application fee)

b.    If you are applying for your Master’s Degree and have not paid your application fee yet, please pay your $35 Graduate Fee

2. Official Transcripts: It is required that you send us an official transcript for all educational institutions you have attended

a.  High School Transcripts:

Must be in a sealed and stamped envelope, mailed directly from the issuing institution, translated into English

Must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.6 (If you will be entering BHSU directly post-Secondary School)

If you took the WAEC, please send your official WAEC Certificate and new/unused scratch card to BHSU

b.  College/University Transcripts:

Must be in a sealed and stamped envelope, mailed directly from the issuing institution, translated into English

If you are transferring from another university or college

Must have a minimum university GPA of 2.0

If you would like the possibility of your university credits transferred from a university outside the US, please obtain a course-by-course evaluation from WES or ECE to be sent to BHSU

3. Financial Responsibility Documents: Both a. and b. must be received in original/official form

a.  Complete the Official Statement of Finances: Official Statement of Finances

Must have a notary’s signature and stamp witnessing the guarantor/sponsor’s signature

b.    Must provide a bank statement or bank letter with $18,474 for one academic year noted

   Must be signed and stamped by bank official 

4. English Language Proficiency Test Score: One of the following scores is required, or see Exceptions below:

TOEFL Test Of English as a Foreign Language (Code 6042):

   PBT Paper Based TOEFL: minimum of 500
   IBT Internet Based TOEFL: minimum of 61

IELTS International English Language Testing System minimum score of 5.5

TOEIC Test of English for International Communication minimum score of 600

SAT Scholastic Achievement Test (Code 3904)
Critical Reading and Writing: 480
Exceptions: English Proficiency is required unless one of the following criterion are met:

      IF the student first enrolls in BHSU’s Academic English Preparation Program (AEPP)

      IF the student has attended a school in the U.S. for one academic year

      IF the student is from a native English speaking country

      For African Countries, WAEC Score > C4 in English Language 

5. Copy of Passport: Emailed to
