The Black Hills State University Music Department presents the BHSU Community Band's spring concert Monday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

The band will present “World Travels” including a wide variety of pieces that, while all written in the United States, take us from a circus tent in a small prairie town to the warm waters of the Caribbean. Stops along the way include a booming metropolis, China, England, and the American West.

The BHSU Community Band is open to all musicians who play woodwind, brass, or percussion. The group meets during the school year and plays a variety of music from standard literature to new works for band. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact director Christopher Hahn at 642-6888.

The BHSU Music Department will also present the BHSU Jazz Ensemble concert Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Meier Recital Hall. The concert, under the direction of Dr. Randall Royer, will present a variety of jazz styles.

Both concerts are open to the public at no charge; scholarship donations are welcome. To learn more about music at BHSU visit www.BHSU.edu/Music.
