Dr. Megan Burke,
a civil engineer with RESPEC Consulting & Services in Rapid City, speaks
with a group of local high school juniors and seniors during the recent Lab
Coats and Business Entrepreneurship event held at Black Hills State University.
Nearly 40 juniors and seniors from Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood and
Sturgis attended the event sponsored by the South Dakota Center for Enterprise
Opportunity (SD CEO) and the BHSU College of Business and Natural Sciences. The
event, which was partially funded through a grant from the Spearfish Optimist
Club, aimed to encourage high school students to pursue careers in high-demand
fields such as science, technology, math and business.
The SD CEO is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business
Administration. The support given by the U.S. Small Business Administration
