Heceta Lighthouse, painted by Nell Smith, Sioux Falls, was awarded third place in the Masters (Ages 80+) Oil Painting category of the 15th Annual South Dakota Health Care Association (SDHCA) Dakota MasterWorks Creative Art Show and Competition. Smith’s entry, along with nearly 40 other winning entries, are currently on display at the Ruddell Gallery on the BHSU campus.
Artwork from the 15th Annual South Dakota Health Care Association (SDHCA) Dakota MasterWorks Creative Art Show and Competition is currently on display at the Ruddell Gallery in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union at Black Hills State University. Nearly 40 winning entries are on display.
The SDHCA Dakota MasterWorks was created to feature the creativity and talents of South Dakotans over the age of 60.
Entries were received in the following categories: oil, watercolor, and acrylic painting; drawing/pastels; photography; sculpture; and wood carving. Categories were divided into two age groups: experienced, ages 60 - 79; and masters, ages 80+.
The show, sponsored by the SDHCA and KELOLAND Television, will be on display through Jan. 6, 2012, during normal Student Union hours. Winning artwork can also be viewed online under the SDHCA Dakota MasterWorks tab at www.sdhca.org.
