The Black Hills State University David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union will host a celebration Thursday, April 22 (Earth Day) beginning at 11 a.m. in honor of the completion of the Student Union addition. The newly remodeled Student Union was the first building in the state to become Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified.
Activities and events will take place throughout the Student Union to familiarize guests with new areas and to show BHSU’s commitment to sustainability. The schedule of events is as follows:
- 11 a.m. - The celebration begins in the Student Union Atrium with entertainment and a University Bookstore fashion show. The Bookstore will also be offering special deals on merchandise.
- 11:30 a.m. - A brief program will be held in the Atrium with lunch to follow. The Hive, a new dining area featuring a variety of gourmet food options, will offer a special price for lunch.
- 1-3 p.m. - BHSU student organizations will give Student Union Green Tours highlighting the environmentally friendly features of the building.
