The Yellow Jackets women's basketball team was in Sioux Falls last weekend for the Sioux Fall Classic. Friday night they played Sioux Falls College and Saturday they faced #5 Northwestern College.
On Friday night the Yellow Jackets took an early lead into halftime 41-33 behind solid play from seniors Lacey Haughian and Snjezana Dojcinovic. Black Hills State added to their lead in the second half outscoring Sioux Falls by seven bringing the final to 79-64 and improving to 7-1 on the season. The Yellow Jackets were led by Lacey Haughian with 18 points and seven rebounds. Snjezana Dojcinovic added 16 points and eight rebounds.
The following afternoon the Yellow Jackets took on nationally ranked Northwestern College. The Yellow Jackets trailed at halftime 39-47. Black Hills State tried to fight back in the second half but Northwestern proved to be too much as they beat the Yellow Jackets 79-99. Black Hills State was led by Lacey Haughian with 19 points and nine rebounds. Snjezana Dojcinovic had 16 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Brittany Furhman added 15 points making five three-pointers.
The 7-2 Yellow Jackets will be home this Saturday night as they will take on Division II Chadron State College at 5:30pm. The men's game will be immediately following at the Donald E. Young Center.
